FAQs on LASIK – Dr. Stanley Braverman
Am I a Good Candidate for LASIK?
To be a good candidate for LASIK in Miami / Ft. Lauderdale, you must be at least 18 years old and in good health, with no eye diseases such as glaucoma or cataracts. LASIK can be used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. To find out if you are a candidate for the procedure, please contact Braverman Eye Center at (954) 458-2112 for a one-on-one FREE consultation.
Is LASIK for Everyone?
Not everyone is a good candidate for LASIK. Dr. Braverman will not perform the procedure unless he is 100 percent sure that the patient is a good candidate with a high likelihood of success. If you are not a good candidate – for example, if your corneas are too thin for the surgeon to create an adequate flap – you may qualify for an alternative laser correction treatment such as LASEK, Epi-LASIK or PRK.
Is LASIK Painful?
Dr. Braverman will apply eye-numbing drops prior to the LASIK procedure to ensure a painless surgery. Most patients experience little or no discomfort during the LASIK procedure and no more than mild discomfort after the surgery.
How Long Does LASIK Surgery Take?
LASIK is an extremely exacting procedure that requires sophisticated technology and a highly trained surgeon. However, the procedure itself takes less than 10 minutes per eye, and most patients experience nearly immediate results. Don't think that it is a simple procedure, since there are over 100 separate different steps that must be done to do a quality job.
How Should I Choose My LASIK Surgeon?
Do your research and ask questions. The primary factor should be the surgeon's experience. How many LASIK procedures has he or she performed? How long has he or she been practicing? Is he or she board certified? For example, Dr. Braverman is a board-certified ophthalmologist, Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons who has performed thousands of LASIK procedures during a career spanning over 20 years. In addition, he uses only the latest, most advanced technology for all his Miami / Ft. Lauderdale LASIK patients, achieving optimal results and few complications.
How Much Does Lasik Cost?
If you are considering LASIK, please contact Rosemary at the Braverman Eye Center at (954) 458-2112 for a quote. Keep in mind that Braverman Eye center offers CareCredit, which has many affordable payment options, including 0% interest financing for 12 months. Braverman Eye Center also accepts cash, checks, Visa MasterCard and American Express. Visit our financing page to learn more about our financing options.
Why Not Use a Cheaper Eye Clinic?
When selecting a LASIK surgeon, price should not be your first concern. Your main objective should be finding a surgeon with the experience, skill and technology to provide you with a safe, successful surgery. Be aware that most discount LASIK advertisements are deceptive. The actual cost of surgery using the latest technology, such as bladeless corneal flap creation, will likely turn out to be much higher than the advertised price. With LASIK, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
